Topic: Pre-Season Scouting TN
It is almost 16:00 and I am sitting on a wma in Tennessee scouting for for my son and his first youth season in 3 weeks. So my question is with time I have left is better to scout in the afternoon or early morning? I can’t use any turkey calls so will they be more active talking in the morning or at night time with each other. This is my sons first season to hunt with a gun so I really want him to kill a bird more than I want one myself.Philip and Tyler Respond,
Man that’s exciting that this will be your sons first chance at a turkey! Typically I like to do my scouting before season in the mornings. If your new to the area try getting on the highest point to where you can hear for a long ways to get some located once they start gobbling on roost right at first light. If they are really fired up, I like to listen to them once they hit the ground and hear which way it sounds like they’re naturally moving, that way you will have an idea of where they want to go.
Good luck to you and your son!! Please keep us posted and let us know how it goes!
